Fall Newsletter 9/13

This week went by so fast. It was just Shabbos and here we are.

On Sunday after teaching my class, my mother and I went to a pick-your-own apple orchard but apple picking season had ended so we just poked around their country store and bought a basket of fresh apples. Afterwards, I made this curry which was really good (I halved the ginger, basil, and curry powder). At night, I went for an hourlong walk with a friend — this was so refreshing.

Monday there was a bit of chaos involving an exam I gave my students (I teach a class on Monday as well as Sunday) – the college was using some new tech to reduce the risk of cheating and there were a variety of malfunctions, compromising the exam and basically leaving me with one less assignment to average into my students’ grades. I kind of felt like crying but also laughed so much throughout the whole fiasco. What I will do about grading remains TBD.

The rest of the week is kind of a blur! I am still plugging away at the next 12 hours of the JTTS training (4 hours down, 8 to go). I started writing my lit review (about 5 pages in, of what I anticipate will be in the neighborhood of 30…?). I have an interview next week for a remote job, we will see where that goes…

This week I read the first three Martha books by Melissa Wiley, and have the fourth for Shabbos reading. I am also reading Psychobabble by Joe Nucci (this has some similar ideas to Bad Therapy but I’m liking it a lot more).

That’s it for now, friends! Have a beautiful Shabbos!
