Summer Newsletter 10/13

Hello, all, happy erev Shabbos Nachamu and erev Tu B’Av! Here are a couple of Tu B’Av-related posts from previous years: game board and forest outing. I also wrote two posts earlier this week (am I finding my way back?): the zone and walking.

It’s time to get serious about making the most of every bit of summer. I have not gotten into a swimming pool this entire summer (actually, I’m not sure if I did last summer either, eek). So that is on the list for August. (I do have an actual list pinned to the top of my Notes, of random things I want to accomplish in a given month.)

Artist Date: This week, my Artist Date was a big bust — I went to an off-Broadway play without doing much research and it was painfully woke and self-important, I just couldn’t get out fast enough. Lesson learned!! (Thankfully, for not too much money). I am having a replacement Artist Date today — will update next week.

Project Citizenship: I got my grandfather’s refugee case file through World Jewish Relief – very cool to see handwritten notes describing his condition etc over the years that he was in England. I’ll submit this as supporting documentation showing that he left Vienna due to persecution.

A find that has been so fun to peruse — Feeling! Magazine on Substack.

The other day I named my imaginary dog Very. (My mother once said that “very” is a good word to describe me). Loving that name.

I went to a challah bake and it was so nice of friends to arrange, and also I topped one of my loaves with cinnamon-sugar which I never did when I baked at home. Yum!

Currently reading: A Life in Light, by Mary Pipher. What are you reading?

Wishing you a beautiful Shabbos!
