Summer Newsletter 12/13

Hello, all,

Before we go any further, can you please kindly fill out this brief survey about how you like your blog posts? This would be so helpful (and interesting for me)! Thank you!

I’m trying to remember where I most recently saw a reference to “getting your colors done” — it seems to be everywhere — but I finally took a look at the color system and identified myself as a winter. This means that the colors that look best on me are saturated blue-toned colors like fuchsia, cobalt, and royal purple. I actually think this is true. These are the kinds of colors I tend to gravitate towards as well.

Artist Date(s): I had a mini-adventure this week when I decided to go out of my way on the way to work to pick up/splurge on a pistachio croissant at Patis. I had seen them before and was enamored of the beautiful green color (ha) so decided to try it. I will say that I still prefer a plain croissant – I’m just not into a cream filling. You win or you learn!

A family friend invited me to join her at the Film Forum to see An Officer and A Spy, a French film about the Dreyfus affair. This was intense but very well done, and those Parisian locations…! I’m glad I went to see it — but a lot to process! (Genuine Artist Dates are solo but this was close enough as we spent 99% of the time in silence obv).

And, I plan to go out today to take advantage of my second to last “summer Friday” – will report back!

Recently read: My Friends by Frederik Backman (tearjerker per usual, also a little gritty) and How To Travel the World on $75 a Day by Matt Kepnes (the upshot for me is that I can’t travel on $75 a day, although I did learn about how the credit card points game works, which I had no understanding of before.)

Finally, one night this week, my mother and I got into talking about old-fashioned commercials and my mother showed me a few adorable ones from her childhood: hot dogs, bologna, and dish soap.

Have a wonderful Shabbos and please fill out this 60-second survey, thank you all!
