This was a very busy week in all sorts of ways. Right now I have four main projects cooking: day job, teaching, PhD work, and journaling groups. Some weeks at my day job feel very quiet but this was a busier one. Teaching is enjoyable but takes up a large part of my Sundays. I am now deeply in the thick of things with my dissertation proposal, doing lots of reading, some writing, overthinking, emailing, and just feeling like my head is a little fried. Finally, I am so happy to be giving my JTTS course, and it really is a nice group, it just feels like one more thing – plus I’m working on creating a website and thinking about what to do next with this.
And I lost my credit card this week(!!!) but bH it was really not a big deal, no one used it, I locked it and ordered a replacement.
Some really nice things happened this week, too! My cousin got married and it was so nice to see family at the wedding. We are all so busy, of course, and there is a special cozy feeling when cousins sit together at a wedding and just schmooze and laugh together.
My oldest niece got her first chumash (sadly, I had to miss this event but got cute pics and videos).
And my cousin and I went to The Sleeping Beauty ballet at Lincoln Center! This was absolutely gorgeous and at one point (when the Lilac Fairy put everyone to sleep and the brambles started to “grow” in front of the castle) I cried because it was so transportive. And, there was a little girl sitting in the row in front of us (who provided additional entertainment throughout the performance with her cute reactions to things, like shivering when it got scary, or giggling away at the cutest pitch), and at the very end of the curtain call, the principal ballerina (Megan Fairchild/Aurora) blew her a kiss – as it turns out, this little girl was MF’s daughter (we heard this being explained)! Of course, after that we could see the resemblance. Imagine being the daughter of a ballerina and watching her perform. Just the sweetest.
Before the ballet we went to Abaita, which we did a year ago before a different ballet, and we were even seated at the same table!
Adding here by way of a small update that I have, for this moment, put to rest the idea of going to EY (or Europe) for an extended visit. I have plenty going on right now that feels like I need to be here to do it best. The right time for a change shall emerge…
Thank you, as always, for being here, and wishing you a restful Shabbos!
