Yomim Noraim Season

Gut chodesh to all ❤️.

Thank you to everyone who filled out the survey. I love and appreciate reading your responses! It would be amazing to hear from more of you, it only takes a moment. Here is the link, and TIA!

This is the start of Yomim Noraim and fall transition season (consisting of Elul and Tishrei). I’ve said it before — not an easy time for many of us.

It occurs to me that six months ago I did a six month review to take stock of what had changed and transpired during that time. It’s probably a good idea for me to do that again (I’ll try and do it later in my journal). Last time, it was a helpful reminder that life doesn’t stand still even when it feels like it is.

We say the perek of “LeDovid Hashem” every day during this time, and the word “Ori” is a reference to Rosh Hashanah.

Light doesn’t change anything, but it changes everything. It brings clarity. It helps us understand how things fit together, when we were fumbling and trying to feel things out for ourselves in the dark.

In many ways, I feel like I am in the dark. It’s a long while I’m writing this, but I’m experiencing a lack of clarity in my life. Everything seems to be in a holding pattern. The road forward is in shadow. I create lists of goals, I try to work towards them, it’s not wrong, but it’s also not enlightened. That’s just how it is right now.

I would write that I’m hopeful that the new year will bring new light, but I’m too tired to write that and mean it, so I’ll just write that it can. And, okay, I hope that it does.

A new light for you, too, if you need it.

And while we’re here, I will add that I hope that it brings everything we need.

And it can!

Wishing you a meaningful and gentle chodesh Elul.

Also, survey.
