This was a pretty busy week — including a major citizenship update:
On Sunday, I helped a friend go through her closet, and afterwards we went shopping. This was fun because I actually found cute clothes that I am excited to wear – which can turn a day around, in my experience. When I came home, I decided it was time to do some closet organizing myself. This ended up becoming a bigger project than anticipated. My mother helped me and I ended up doing a BIG closet purge and also clearing/throwing out lots of other stuff in my room. I also found way more papers to shred, which I did. It felt great and it is so nice to wake up in a room that is neater and more serene than it’s been in years.
For a long while, I wanted to do a CPR training and this week, I finally did it. I took a 1:1 course, which was good, because I am squeamish and ask tons of questions. The last time I did this was in ninth grade, which was…almost 20 years ago. I feel good about this!
On Wednesday, I got the most exciting email – my citizenship application was accepted!! I will be getting a packet in the mail any day. So much for 6-12 months! I’m now a dual Austrian-American citizen. I have a passport appointment at the Austrian Consulate General in December. I don’t really know what to do with myself now that this project is done – it was a lot of fun! Maybe it will give me the impetus to plan my Great European Adventure.
Also this week – I wanted to try the app Too Good To Go, a platform for ordering surprise bags of restaurant surplus. I claimed a bag from Mendy’s and walked over after work on Thursday. As it turns out, this was more like a mini-meal in a lunch bag (small mushroom barley soup, Israeli salad, half a basic turkey sandwich) but for $6.52 including tax, we can call this a “little adventure.”
And I won a $20 Walmart gift card at a meeting for answering a company trivia question – I wanted to avoid spending money to use the gift card (as these things often go) and found I could order two boxes of my beloved Aloha bars at $10 each, and get free shipping with a trial of Walmart+. (The bars came a few hours later, I’ll cancel the trial – this was very satisfying).
Currently reading: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, by J. K. Rowling (not for the first time).
Have a restful Shabbos!
