Winter Newsletter 6/13

What are you looking forward to the rest of this winter? I find that most winter magic is frontloaded into December, and the subsequent months have historically felt dreary to me. But, determined as I am to truly enjoy winter, I have started to think again about things I can do after work now that most of my winter fun list has been accomplished. (To update you on my fun list progress, since I know you are curious, I have completed most items except the Manischewitz cookie house – which I gave to my nephews to bring home, apple cider doughnuts – too hard, Date Night at the Met – I still want to do this, dinner at Mendy’s – ditto, Roy Lichtenstein Retrospective – opening dates have not been updated on the Whitney website).

This week I did some shopping and it feels great to get things I will actually start using right away (that’s generally when I buy things, tbh). I bought booties, a new work bag, a sweater, and a dress (well, I ordered that one online so we shall see how it fits). This week I also gave my penultimate pilot class of JTTS. I did some prep for the new semester (starting to teach next week — the break ends so fast!) I did a bit more reading and added a few lines to my lit review. I optimistically put a pile of books on hold at the library, mostly for pleasure reading; we shall see what we actually get through.

I’m currently reading Best Laid Plans by Sarah Hart-Unger (I listen to her podcast on occasion) and Safe by Jessica Baum (I might be over reading about attachment theory but I will give this one more time.)

I hope you’re staying comfortable and cozy! Have a good Shabbos!
