I am coming out of the fog of jet lag, which was surprisingly challenging all week. I am grateful to have somehow made it to (almost) the end of the work week. As mentioned, this week I did a lot of reflection and journaling about my trip experience and the impact it had on me. Other things that happened this week included:
A group BBQ for July 4th weekend. This was fun, and people brought/made really tasty treats!
Lots of grading (I was caught up before leaving and came back to over 75 submissions – mostly short but lots to get through). I am almost caught up again, miraculously.
Starting to read The Borrowers Afield — I’m behind if I want to get to 15 books by July 31st (I joined the challenge on June 15th), but I’m determined to get there.
A brief dissertation meeting which gave me some more direction but also some more work to do which I haven’t gotten to yet.
Oatmeal squares one night to satisfy my quick energy cravings.
Enjoyed this podcast interview about “academic summer” (my dream job is to work full time as a university professor), and what was shared by Avital in this interview about not being afraid to be “interesting” in the frum world – really spoke to me…
I’m hoping to read a pile of children’s chapter books over Shabbos and otherwise rest and recharge.
Have a good Shabbos!
