I Can’t Wait To Write About Being a Parent

Five years ago (five? years? ago??), I babysat two nephews when my sister-in-law went to have her baby during COVID. Since that was a bit of a fiasco, it was helpful at the time to hear from friends that taking care of two small children is an all-consuming task and it’s normal to feel wrung out.

Recently, I’ve been thinking about the adjustment to becoming a parent and how that is a transition/border where a lot happens on multiple levels. One of the changes I reflected on was the loss of the flexibility to pursue cultural activities like I do now. And I can’t imagine keeping up my current work schedule; I just don’t see that being possible for me. And of course there are physical changes, and the totally new demands on your time and worries on your mind.

It’s such a different life stage, parenting young children, I’m so curious to learn about who I’ll be on that adventure. I’ve just had a lot of interest in the subject recently. And I have a feeling there will be so much to write about when/as it happens for me, that it will be like a whole new treasure house of reflection and personal development opening up.

So, just sharing this because it’s on my mind, and hoping that we’ll share these great, rich discussions like we’ve been doing.
