Do You Have a Rav?

My family has always been connected to a rav but I never felt that I had a personal connection to my own rav until this year. On several occasions, I needed guidance on matters interpersonal, halachic, and hashkafic, and needed to talk things out. My family rav is amazing, and knows me and my family well, but I preferred to have a separate rav for my personal questions. I called a rav that my friend is close with, introduced myself, and established a relationship from there. This has been an important development for me, and really helpful, although sometimes I feel self-conscious about taking the rav’s time. But it feels good to know that I have a rabbinic authority to turn to when needed, something I felt I was missing for a long time. How about you?
