Gut moed! I don’t usually post on chol hamoed but I want to keep up with these weekly updates.
I hope you are having a nice YT. Here is a collection of a few small things going on:
A few days before Succos I was inspired to print a poster of Keukenhof tulip pictures at CVS which I am enjoying in my succah.
The first couple of days were very warm but now we are finally feeling the real deep chill of fall (i.e. black tights).
Three of my married siblings came for first days but they’ve all packed out by now. My cousin is coming for second days, and possibly my uncle, but Shabbos is quiet.
One night of YT I had a dream that I opened up a children’s book store. Isn’t that the sweetest dream? I woke up and decided that as a rule, I would match any Amazon price for in-store purchases (lol). And that I would deliver baby gifts, and also sell games, puzzles, and art kits. I love my pretend children’s book store! It reminds me of The Shop Around the Corner from the NYC classic movie, “You’ve Got Mail.” P.S. A quote from that movie I think of at this time every year: “Don’t you love New York in the fall? Makes me wanna buy school supplies. I’d send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address.”
We enjoyed reading Jumanji by Chris Van Allsburg on repeat. My nephews also found a copy of Eloise in the house and asked me to read it a few times (tbh, not my favorite book to read aloud). They were impressed when I told them that I work near the Plaza Hotel, so after work yesterday (I worked a full day, ah well), I walked over and took a few pictures to send to them.
Last night (after I got home from work), my mother, brother, and I went to visit my grandmother at my aunt’s house, and when we walked in, my grandmother was watching “The Band Man” (Rachel’s Place Production) with my aunt and cousins. This was a fun surprise and we ended up staying until the end (my brother did not watch with us. Lol). “The Music Man” is one of my favorite cast recordings. My aunt had a fun setup with the movie projected onto the wall, very cool.
I finished reading Bad Therapy. I think this book had a lot of potential but it kind of falls apart for me. The author makes great points early on but undercuts them by being relentlessly negative about basically everything mental health-related. The first few chapters are still worth the read, but it’s a shame.
Currently reading: Wired for Love by Stephanie Cacioppo. I also have The Postcard by Anne Berest and Here We Go by Eleonor Hamby and Sandra Hazelip out from the library. Will report back.
I’m working a half day today and looking forward to being cozy on the couch tonight with my books! Enjoy the rest of your YT, see you next week!
