As a bit of a continuation of yesterday’s post…I’m older than all my cousins on my mother’s side of the family – my youngest cousin on that side is 6 (I’m 33). Sometimes I think of my youngest cousins as more like my nieces. Sitting at my aunt’s house, it occurred to me that I am their really older single cousin. Like I’ve been dating since before they were born. I know they’re not judging me, they probably don’t think about it, but still, realizing that does make me a little uncomfortable. It makes me feel a tiny bit bad about myself. Like I’m doing something shameful by being their older single cousin.
