I can’t be the only one who immediately works out a whole imaginary life when the prospect of a date is on the horizon (long before the yes). I’ve figured out commutes, mortgages, and Sunday afternoon entertainment options for shared lives with people I’ve never met (and often don’t meet). This tendency is utterly human, of course, but can be inconvenient. I find that my imagination is so vivid, I become ambivalent about actual stuff I have going on in my real life as I pivot towards the potential new one. It’s pretty funny, also incredible that I am STILL doing this, and maybe somewhat touching, too.
Do you relate?
