How would you answer this question?:
What would you do if you were stuck in one place and every day was exactly the same and nothing you did mattered?
That’s the philosophical question at the heart of the 1993 movie Groundhog Day, in which weather reporter Phil Connors finds himself waking up on the same day over and over. As the movie unfolds, it becomes clear that Phil is being given the opportunity to evolve and make right his mistakes until he ultimately redeems himself from the never-ending loop.
It’s a thought-provoking movie (famous for a reason), but I found myself most pondering the above question, asked by Phil when he realizes he might be on this time treadmill for the long haul.
What would you do? What would I do? And ultimately – am I doing it?
