How To Be an Active Member of Klal Yisroel

Here are some of my reflections on the topic, if you’d like to read…

Seek to be mechazek. Lend your ears without interrupting. Share divrei emunah. If you aren’t a source of chizuk, try to become one.

Seek to be a positive influence. You are looked up to by more people than you realize, just because you are an adult.

Take your place as a cog in the machine of Jewish history seriously. Work out your stuff so it doesn’t get in the way of your tafkid. You are needed, so show up.

Continue to inspire yourself so you may be a person who inspires others by virtue of the way you live your everyday life.

Daven for others. Everyone needs yeshuos. Widen your view to include those not in your immediate proximity.

Make a kiddush Hashem. Be nice to everyone you meet. Find what to respect in each person.

Be available to sign on where help is needed. Know your kochos and how they can be applied.

Give tzedakah generously.

See the good in your fellow Jew. Choose a person you have difficulty with and write a paragraph detailing at least five positive qualities that person has.

Chesed starts at home. Are you available physically and emotionally to your parents and siblings? Are you aware of what’s going on with everyone in your family?

Attend family and community simchas whenever possible. Each guest truly warms the hearts of the baalei simcha.

What are your ideas?
