Wow, here we are at the end of March.(The title of this post makes it sound like I set quarterly goals, which maybe I should have done instead of this system. We shall think about this.) A recap of what has happened, or is happening, or not happening, so far:
- Build the habit of putting down my phone when I am with people. I think I am getting better at this. I’m definitely more conscious of it.
- Put friends and family birthdays into my calendar so I remember birthdays. I mostly did this, and am wishing more people happy birthday than I ever did before, so this is a win.
- Do Storyworth with my grandmother. This is a HUGE win. My grandmother and I are really loving our conversations. This has been so special so far. B”H!
- Call friends (at least) twice a month. I haven’t been keeping track but I do think this has happened.
- Give attention to relationship weak areas: saying no, apologizing, forgiving. Okay, this wasn’t a great goal to set because it really doesn’t mean much concretely and I haven’t had it in mind.
- Donate blood. Have not done.
- Don’t sign up for any extra courses. I haven’t signed up for anything outside of work, but I have been using my CEU budget at work to take random workshops. I think that’s fine. The main thing is that I don’t want to be investing my own time and money into more courses right now.
- Do 10 minutes of strength training on my WFH days. I started strong with this and fell off the wagon…not thrilled about that. Exercise has always been something I resist sticking to…
- Get sunglasses. I bought these! I ended up getting a kids’ size to fit my face, which solved a long-perplexing issue.
- Average 5,800 daily step count for the year. I am a little behind with this (at 5,000 step average) but that’s fine, spring is here and I am be”H going to be walking a lot more. We had an entire month of icy sidewalks this quarter.
- Learn more about my birth chart. Have not done.
- Read the halacha section of Reclaiming Dignity. We are almost three-quarters through!
- Learn Sefer Yehoshua & Shoftim. My Partner in Torah and I are a few parshios out from finishing Sefer Devarim so I may just wait to start Sefer Yehoshua with her.
- Review CPR book on a biweekly basis. Omg, no I haven’t done this at all and I feel silly! Maybe I should find a video instead.
- Read through A Poem for Every Night of the Year. A few nights behind but mostly on track with this! Not my favorite collection to be totally honest but every so often I find one I really like. Doing this has also made me think about what poetry collection I might do next. This is a great way to consume poetry.
- Learn some Latin. Actually forgot about this one.
- Watch season 6 of ACGAS, AND re-watch previous seasons. In middle of season three with my mother (we haven’t watched much since Purim but I’m determined to get back on track after Pesach).
- Thoroughly visit the Bronx Zoo. Not yet.
- Go to at least one Yankees game. Not yet.
- Walk up Broadway (Manhattan). Not yet.
- Visit the south of France for my birthday. Trip planning in progress bH!!
- Set up my journaling business website. I did this! It isn’t finished-finished but it’s up.
- Reach (surpass?) 100+ email subscribers. Haven’t set up a newsletter yet.
- Publish one article. I just had a workshop proposal accepted for a conference, so that will suffice for this goal.
- Make a praise file. Did not do.
- Defend dissertation proposal. Working on this. Most chapters are written but need deep editing.
Okay, not bad. I’m thinking about replacing numbers 5, 11, and 16. (If I do, you’ll find out next check-in.)
Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a great day!
