Twenty for 5784: Fall Review

Before Rosh Hashana, I wrote a list of 20 items/goals/nudges for the year. Here is a review of the five I wanted to focus on in the fall:

  1. Read all the Caldecott award winners in order. I started this and realized around book 30 that it wasn’t fun anymore. What I had really wanted was to read more picture books (which I used to do all the time), and I have gotten back into that. I’ll write a post about this in the next few weeks iy”H.
  2. Complete the Journal to the Self instructor certification. I started this application, which was an accomplishment in itself, and got my letters of recommendation, but I’m holding onto them for now because this is not the right time for me to start an additional training. It remains on the list!
  3. Subscribe to a magazine. I was deciding between The Atlantic and The New Yorker and then October 7th happened and I didn’t want a subscription to a secular magazine anymore. On hold for now.
  4. Take an hour to organize my maaser. Didn’t do. Yikes!
  5. Cook at least 10 new recipes (starting during Y”T season). I made one recipe for Succos (pineapple kugel, more like cake, yum) and I made a list of a few other recipes to try. Will be doing more of this iy”H!

I’m pretty pleased with what I’ve started working on so far. To be continued!

Wishing you a freilichen Chanukah!
