Favorite Baby Gifts

Little gift-giving tip I discovered: It’s a lot more fun to choose gifts that you love. I like to give board books as baby gifts because I’m a language development nerd and reading to babies is so good for them! It helps builds connections in the brain and lays the foundation for literacy and learning. Babies love to hear the sound of their parents’ voices, even if they can’t understand what they’re saying!

Board books are a simple and relatively inexpensive gift that’ll get lots of use. I usually choose a few to gift together. Sometimes I order a big stack just to have on hand. Books with bold images, flaps, repetitive text, or that encourage animal sounds or hand motions are all great.

These are some favorites:

Dear Zoo (I now crown this one king of all board books.)

Black and White

Blue Hat, Green Hat (and more by Sandra Boynton)

Is Your Mama a Llama?

Japan: A Book of Nature

The Carrot Seed

Jamberry

Eating the Alphabet

Another great baby gift is My Book, a fill-in baby book by Yaffa Ganz.
