How Was This Pesach?

Hi, everyone, welcome back here! It’s hard to believe we’re on the other side of Pesach and this shelter in place situation has been going on for five weeks already (alternatively, for only five weeks so far), at least in the New York area.

How are you all doing and how was your Yom Tov? This was my first time staying home for the whole Pesach in about four years. We usually have a lot of guests…but not this year. It was somewhat unnerving to have everyone davening at home — this alternate reality can definitely get to you — but was also surprisingly pleasant.

I finished a couple of books and read parts of some others, including the one I bought myself for Chanukah (better late than never). I also ate an inordinate number of biscotti (first recipe here, but with macadamia nuts and craisins). And I memorized a poem (this one — don’t judge)!

Chol Hamoed was rather subdued, but we had a really fun Zoom get-together with our extended family. We played a family trivia game; it was easy to pull off and so hilarious.

In the past few weeks, I’ve been on a Zoom bris, baby girl naming (a unique ceremony minus the shul), hanachas tefillin, and unfortunately, levaya. This is in addition to the countless classes and webinars. I have not done any Zoom dating but I hear about it from folks and I may be doing a post on the topic in the near future.

Finally, one of the perks of staying home is that I’ve basically ditched lenses, and I have new frames I really like. FYI — Warby Parker has been awesome to deal with; I needed to change something and I felt like I was emailing real people who were really helpful (not a paid ad).

Now on to that pile of work I’ve neglected…

I hope you and yours are doing well! Go for a walk! Memorize a poem! Plant a flower!

The best part of quarantine is no lenses/no makeup/no getting dressed up. It’s so relaxing.
I’m looking forward to the post on Zoom dating. I hope the situation improves and social distancing restrictions are lifted before I have to do that. Dating is hard enough when it’s in person!

Totally agree, I don’t think I’ve put on makeup in weeks and it’s bliss.
I have some thoughts to throw out there regarding Zoom dating and I hope people who have actually done it will weigh in with their experiences!
