The Birthday Scribe

I’m the one who keeps track of everyone’s birthdays and anniversaries in my extended family. I don’t really remember when this started but at some point a few years ago, I sent out a group email to get all the dates and put them into a calendar which I emailed around. Everyone loved having all the dates in one place and most of us printed it out and hung it in the kitchen near the phone. Since then, I have tried to keep the list updated and send it out periodically.

I love when anyone in the family has a new baby or gets engaged or married and I have a reason to update the birthday chart, adding new cousins, changing last names, shrinking the text by .5 to fit in one more anniversary… Soon I’m going to have to have to find a roomier template or create something of my own because my family is quickly outgrowing the current one, boruch Hashem. (We still have room in March. Someone, get married immediately).

This is a small, simple tradition that makes me inordinately happy :-).
