Things I Have Learned About Clothes Shopping

You’d think shopping would have come up on the blog by now (I mean, really), but for some reason it hasn’t. These tips could be a subcategory of Secrets of Adulthood. I wrote them up after a pretty intense shopping marathon this week. It’s officially summer weather and the shopping couldn’t be put off any longer, much as I dread going beforehand…

Things I have learned about clothes shopping:

If you leave the store without a matching skirt for the top, you will be giving away the top two years hence with the tags still attached. And vice versa.

Take a leaf out of Marie Kondo’s book and buy only what sparks joy. I have seriously implemented this rule and now I only buy what I would be happy to wear over and over.

If a style is not your thing, it’s not your thing. (Me and hi-lo). The end.

Tell the saleslady what you do and don’t like. She won’t take your preferences personally and everyone saves time.

If you love how they look on your feet, buy the shoes. (Tip from my sister). I recently did this with both wedges and pumps that I didn’t actually need, and now I have use for both. I admit that I bought the pumps purely for the Kate Middleton vibe, by the way.

What are your shopping tips?
