At the end of July, when I was wrapping up my teaching semester and grading endless papers, I resolved to take the fall semester off from teaching. I thought, “I need an autumn.” And I do, and hope to get it be”H! Joke’s on me, I did indeed agree to teach another class in the fall but it is on a weeknight which is easier — I still get my weekend.
So, without further ado, a few things I hope to enjoy this fall:
Stock up on cheap notebooks from Staples. I usually do this in August, it slipped my mind but I will aim to go shortly be”H.
Go apple picking! I missed the window last fall, am hoping to make it this. I have exactly one opportunity (this Sunday – the next four are Y”T, the following two I’m away, and that takes us past apple picking season), so we shall see.
Bake a seasonal cake for Succos. Maybe apple cider doughnut cake, or honey lemon bundt cake.
Do a Hudson Valley day trip. Perhaps to Storm King again, or just to a small town to walk around.
Visit the Roy Lichtenstein exhibit at the Whitney. I booked a free ticket!
Visit Central Park for fall foliage and chrysanthemums.
Reread the Betsy-Tacy high school books. Love these so much.
Stargaze on the High Line. I was told to come back in late September for a good view of Saturn.
Walk up Broadway, for goodness’s sake.
What’s on your fall fun list?
