Timing Is Everything

My sister pointed out that timing can mean the difference between success or failure. If you want to buy a house, but you can’t afford it, then even if you find a great house in a great neighborhood at an objectively good price, it’s not good for you. It will be a headache and a strain and you will risk losing it.

If you meet someone or know about someone and you are not ready to date or get married (for whatever reason!), then they can be an objectively great person and even the right kind of person for you, but marriage will be a stress and a strain and you might risk losing it. Sometimes we have regrets — I wish I could have figured it out, etc. — but as Susan Page writes, “Meeting the right person at the wrong time is exactly the same as meeting the wrong person” (emphasis mine).
