Happiness Practices

Do you ever experience those fleeting moments of de ja vu, when you feel the wonder of being a kid again? I just got that feeling when I skimmed through the cutest book, The Happy Life Checklist: 654 Simple Ways to Find Your Bliss, by Amy Spencer. These are my favorite suggestions (and after the intense posts of the past week, we all deserve this 😉 ):

Brush your teeth with your other hand.

Go to sleep two hours earlier.

Use a spice you’ve never tried.

Take a different route home.

Omokase” a meal (let the chef choose what to serve you).

Watch the movie in a reflection (ex. in a puddle, chrome building, shop window).

Open every window in the house.

Watch a bird in flight as long as you can.

Super-stock up on that thing you keep running out of.

Get an extra thingie (ex. extra charger for work, extra eye drops for your bag).

Sing at the top of your lungs in the car.

Have a staring contest with an animal.

Have a gift card week and use them all up.

Choose one new vocabulary word and use it three times.

Read the other side of the argument.

Leave someone a note.

Look people in the eye for three seconds when you say thank you.

Leave your phone behind for half a day.

Memorize a poem.

Learn to say something positive in another language.

Learn a new constellation.

Ask your friends what they’re most proud of.

Ask an older person for advice.

Be gracious to someone onstage.

Be the welcoming face in the crowd.

Count ten smiling faces in the room.

What would you add?

P.S. Speaking of happiness practices, I think this sounds like so much fun.
